Our project in Campanet: A house in transition
Our current renovation project in Campanet is a typical example of the opportunities and challenges that come with restoring an old Mallorcan country house. The building was badly damaged but also full of potential.
The project began in 2022, when we started planning and exchanging visions. We are currently at the beginning of our renovation process. After months of planning and discussions, we have now started the project!
What is particularly important to us in the renovation
Our philosophy when renovating in Mallorca is based on respect for the history of the building. The preservation of traditional building materials and techniques is just as important to us as the integration of modern elements. In our project in Campanet we attach particular importance to:
- sustainability: We rely on energy-efficient solutions, such as environmentally friendly heating technology and solar energy, to bring the building up to date without losing its character.
- Traditional craftsmanship: We work closely with local craftsmen who master the traditional techniques of Mallorcan construction to restore authentic details such as wooden ceilings and stone walls.
- Modern equipment: While the building will retain its historic charm on the outside, the interior will be equipped with modern, high-quality materials to enable comfortable and sustainable living.
Current status of the renovation: What has been achieved so far?
We are currently in the initial phase of the renovation. The structure of the building has been largely secured and the first renovation work on the outside area, such as the garden, has been completed. We saved the garden from becoming overgrown and cut down undergrowth and disturbing trees. On the one hand, so that we can then build a beautiful pool area, and on the other hand, to reveal the great view of the property. The terrace with a view of the surrounding landscape of Campanet will be a true highlight of the house.
The interior is currently being gutted and prepared for the new requirements. We have already started to tear down walls to create a new room layout. In the process, we discovered termite damage, which now needs to be removed.
The challenges of a renovation on Mallorca
As with any renovation of an old house in Mallorca, our project presents some challenges. Often, old buildings require creative solutions to meet modern requirements without compromising the structure and appearance. Combining tradition and innovation is not always easy, but it makes the project all the more exciting.
